day JUU-GO! ugh, man i'm sleepy. as of this moment, i have 29017 words. i really should keep writing, too, but tomorrow i'm going to have almost an hour free and so i figure i can use that time. thanks to the grand invention that is LAPTOPS. my biggest problem right now is that all this writing is kicking my creative juices into overdrive and i'm having all these other story ideas. i've started a little file w/ all the things that pass through my head. i swear i'm gonna have a dozen extraneous story ideas by the time i'm done w/ my actual nano task. course, i may have to fall back on one or several of them if i plan on reaching 50k. i'm going back and adding/editing right now, and although if i could force myself to concentrate it would be going alright in terms of speed, i just don't think i'm gonna be able to pad myself out to 50k. before nano, i was writing a thing based on the hymn of the pearl which i found fascinating, so i suppose i could go back to that... i'd really prefer to pad UC out to 50k though. ...oh. UC stands for Unfamiliar Ceilings, the working title of my novel. i really can't remember if i told you that already. ...ironic, if you think about it. 20983 words to go. ugh, man. i need more plot, and i just haven't got it. i do have a couple of slots open for dream-memories, but i seem to be having some kind of block about what else shiva can remember that would be nice for characterization purposes but wouldn't tip him into remembering anything before The Climax. ...and i think i just changed the ending a little, but that's for tomorrow. right now is sleepy time.

day JUU-RUKU! well, i'm only at 30,524 words. but the more i go through this story, the more i think maybe it doesn't suck so hardcore as i once believed. don't get me wrong, it's not great literature, and it's not even the best thing i've written by half, but it doesn't quite suck money balls, and so i'm surprised and pleased. i am seriously considering starting in on a second plot though. i keep mentioning that hymn of the pearl thing coz i'm trying to make myself comfortable w/ the idea of using that for the last 15k or so of my word count. i'm definitely going to finish UC, but i really don't think i can make it 50k. 40k would surprise the hell out of me, really. my file of other story ideas is growing hourly though. so i certainly won't be bored for the next few months. anyhow, i'm gonna stick w/ UC until it's finished, and if that doesn't turn out to be the full 50k, i can always tack on the hymn of the pearl. that's my Plan. only 19476 words to go!

day JUU-SHICHI! well, 17 days in, and i've finished a story. it's 31,823 words long, but it's done. stick a fork in it. i just can't add anything else to it, the plot is Over. so here's my Plan: tomorrow, i start The Hymn of the Pearl, in which a young boy leaves home to defend his father's honor by robbing a dragon of a pearl. on the way, he forgets who he is [anyone else sensing an amnesia theme here?] and ends up working for a powerful egyptian king. then somehow [yeah, how exactly?] he remembers himself and steals the pearl and then returns home, where he is granted a great reward. i actually started the story before november, but here's the thing. i got off track, and now i practically have to start from scratch. so, i figure it's a perfect nano candidate. plus it's got a cute, young, bull-headed protagonist, it's got his older brother, who really wants to join in on the questing Action, but can't because he's got Duties, it's got a cute, young, naive egyptian boy who becomes young Thomas's best friend in egypt, and it's got an immortal dragon w/ Treasure. now who wouldn't love that!?

now, to spend some quality time w/ my DS. mario kart! wait for me! i'm coming!

day JUU-HACHI! slug, slug, slug. i'm sleepy. but i started on the hymn of the pearl today, and i have 2767 words. i have the plot for this one laid down a lot better than i had the plot for UC laid down, so i'm confident that it'll go faster. not much else to say, really. it's fun schooling people that you can't even see. LONG LIVE THE DS'S WIFI CONNECTION!

day JUU-KYUU! lord, day 19 already. good lord. it really doesn't seem like it's been 19 days since i started this mess. the pearl's going well, i had 6066 words when i decided to quit. it was a sign. unfortunately the guy i'm racing against has 40800. my total is just under 38k. he wrote an email like, i'm all set to be done on sunday! i'm like, . he's a pretty hysterical guy though. i've been reading his posts -that's right, research on the enemy! bwahahaaa!- and he's pretty funny. so i am definitely looking forward to our novel-swap. i wonder if he'll want to torture himself w/ both of my stories or just the one... anyhow, i'm feeling pretty good, i've got my plot pretty well thought through, and i'm confident i can pick up the last 12k or so w/ this story, no prob. tune in tomorrow to watch me crash and burn!

day NI-JUU! and i've got 42023 words. what i've actually got though is a fancy new utada hikaru song, Passion, thanks so very much mr. ~MichaelBeckett. what i haven't got are any passion lyrics. so if anyone out there FOR THE LOVE OF GOD knows where i can find the lyrics to Passion by Utada Hikaru, please tell me. i've looked on animelyrics.com, i've searched all over hikki's site, and even google has been of no help. although i suppose i love it so much i will have to import the damn thing, so i'll get em somehow. damn, i love this song. also, i think maybe the hymn of the pearl is slightly yaoi. elgh.
