optimism. how ironic.
...because i'm not feeling all that optimistic. ah, this next song's more like it. Island of the Dead. because november starts on tuesday. nano starts on tuesday. i need plot, and i need inspiration, and i need them fast. the problem here? is that i went off and found myself a novel i'm actually interested in writing, based on The Hymn of the Pearl, and i -here's the mistake- started writing it. now, i suppose i could just use what i have now as a sort of starter kit for nano, but that would be cheating, seeing as i've written some of it already. plus, a hindu-style world reset? sounds cool. lord shiva as my main chara? sounds cool. the sarasvati character design that ~MichaelBeckett did for me? freakin rocks. and my mind's off w/ twelve year old boys who are attempting to steal treasure from dragons when their memory is completely erased. the other problem is that my mind drifts into wolf's rain whenever i'm trying to think about world resets. the other other problem is that i'm reading terry pratchett. whatever i'm reading of course tends to seep into whatever i'm writing, and it turns out that terry pratchett is not appropriate for twelve-year-old boys nor for lord shiva. and that's really a shame for shiva, coz i think he could use some humor. so does sarasvati, as it turns out.
SEE!? i've got characters! now where's my plot!?
here's what i know:
a) he, lord shiva, possibly comes out of the ganges river in the first scene. he used to be an indic river god, so here he is, boom, coming out of the river.
b) then he heads for the nearest town, which is probably going to be the capital city. setting is alternate future, so it's pretty bustling, and because i can't get wolf's rain out of my head, it's also bound to be done up in white stucco and be populated by people who are eerily similar.
c) in this town, he meets up w/ sarasvati, his companion --yes, i know, that's not mythologically correct, i just don't care-- and maybe, i guess, they have to go somewhere or meet w/ somebody or SOMETHING so they can get on w/ the whole destroy the world thing.
z) the story ends w/, of course, the destruction and rebirth of the world.
... so, yeah, not what you'd really call a serious Plot Structure there. not even worthy of the title Outline. kinda sad considering that i need to be writing 1500+ words EVERY DAY starting in three days.
i'd also like to point out that i've been writing this hymn of the pearl thing for about 6 days, and i'm not even to 5000 words. that's not even 1000 words/day. panic? no no no, why EVER would you think THAT?
